03.12.2010: An exciting Christmas
This is an especially exciting Christmas for Six. In addition to the annual concerts that we perform at this time of year, we have been invited as special guests for two exciting concert opportunities. The first is near and dear to our hearts - we will be the featured guests at the Amabile Youth Singers Christmas concert, Sing Out With Joy! For the majority of the group, Amabile was the choir that really taught us how to sing. So to be invited back as special guests is a really special moment for us. We've written a really fun piece to do together, so it should be a really great time. The other neat thing we'll be doing is singing live music at Winter Dreams on Ice, an evening of figure skating featuring the Olympic champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. We'll be singing two pieces live to a choreographed routine at the John Labatt Centre. Being able to sing for so many new people is a really great opportunity, not to mention we'll feel pretty cool too. Hopefully no one falls (skater's or singers).
Of course, in addition to all of this is our Christmas concert - so, come to all! Another rather neat adventure had us at The Shaw Festival Theatre, singing a concert along with some wonderful guest artists, including Emilie-Claire Barlow, who is an amazing jazz singer. The audience was so receptive and it was really great to talk to so many of them at their wine-and-cheese reception. We really felt the Niagara-on-the-Lake love.
I think that brings most things relatively up to date. We have some really excited news to tell you soon, but nothing's been finalized, so I'll stay quiet. We hope you are having a relaxing holiday season, and hope to see you all soon.
Ciao for now,
Brad
